Tomorrow, Wednesday, December 2nd begins the Southern Tier Seniors' events with our monthly meeting at the Clermont Firehouse on 9G.
This meeting is always very special and cheerful. Of course, Christmas is our theme for the month, with lots of singing and cheer. The meeting starts at noon, followed by refreshments provided by members with last names S - Z. I'll be bringing a Pineapple Upside Down cake.
Then the real fun begins with our gift exchange (we always have extras to make sure everyone gets something) - and the reading of The Night Before Christmas. And, of course, we'll be singing the Twelve Days of Christmas.
It's a lot of fun. All seniors are welcome. Doors open at 11am.
Then, on Sunday, December 6th we'll be celebrating with our Annual Christmas Dinner/Luncheon Dance. Doors open at noon at the Clermont Firehouse, with music provided by Paul Slusar at 12:30pm and a wonderful family style dinner served by the firehouse members at 1pm. Door prizes will be given and a good time had by all. Looks like we'll have a great turn-out (65 tickets sold), and the weather should be great too. Looking forward to seeing you all - bring your tickets to enter for the door prizes.
Southern Tier Seniors meet on the 1st Wednesday of each month at the Clermont, NY Firehouse on Route 9G.

What's going on at Southern Tier Seniors???????????????
Well, first of all, Summer is gone and Fall has arrived!! We ended the summer with a fantastic meeting in September with an Ice Cream Social and lots of fun and laughs playing the Family Feud Game. Ten lucky members played and all went home with something extra in their pockets ($ - $$$).
Our next meeting is Wednesday, October 7th at the Clermont Firehouse on 9G. Bring your lunch. Members with last names M - R will supply desserts, and Bunny and her helpers will set up and have the coffee ready. And, finally, we'll have Horse Racing after the meeting. This is one of the favorite activities. So bring a friend. The meeting is open to all seniors and there's no charge (unless we're having a meal).
Our annual Christmas Dinner is scheduled for December 6th. Besides a wonderful meal prepared for us by the Clermont Firehouse members, we'll be entertained with music for dancing by Paul Slusar. Tickets are $22 for members and $25 for guests. Betty and myself (Phyllis) will be selling the tickets at the October 7th meeting.
Just one more day trip is scheduled for 2015. When? November 18th. What?? "Home for the Holiday". Where?? Brownstone in N.J. Includes?? Music, Supper & Entertainment. And, of course, bus transportation. Pick-up in Clermont at 8am & Red Hook at 8:15am. Cost?? $89. Call JoAnn Storms at 845-756-2960.
Unfortunately, we had to cancel the October-fest day trip that had been scheduled for Oct. 15th due to lack of interest. Let's hope that doesn't happen for the "Home for the Holiday" trip. So if you haven't made your reservation yet, please do it at the October meeting, or give JoAnn a call.
Looking forward to seeing you all. Take care and stay warm!!

Dutch Apple Cruise on the Hudson River & Tour of Albany, NY
Yesterday's day trip to Albany, NY was a great success. The cruise on the Hudson River on the Dutch Apple boat was so enjoyable and relaxing. Our tour guide was Peter and the young man, Anthony, was great serving us drinks and snacks. The weather was fabulous - windy but sunny!! After the cruise, we were given an extensive tour of Albany. Peter was so great at pointing out so many interesting things that probably most of us didn't know about our own Capitol!! Dinner was at Golden Coral in Colonie. It was a perfect day - Thanks to JoAnn for the great planning. Luckily the rain held off until we were on our way home. Hope that everyone who went (29 of us) had a great day.

News about members
Yesterday I received good news and bad news about two of our members.
Lilo Trimarco, a long-time member of Southern Tier Seniors, passed away. Her husband, Joe, is also a faithful member of our Club. Lilo will be greatly missed - she was very active in the group, went on many of the trips, was just a fun-loving person to be around, and a very patriotic lover of America.
Our vice-president, Pam, will be going home this week after having rehab on her leg/hip. We wish Pam a speady recovery and are happy that she's looking forward to coming to the meetings again. Our best wishes go out to her.
If you'd like to send a card to either Joe or Pam, I know they would appreciate that. Don't know their addresses? - call Betty, Jim or me.

Posts for Jan. 6th & 7th.
Hope to see all the members at our meeting tomorrow (Jan. 7, 2015) at the Clermont Firehouse. Today (January 7th) we had our first meeting for 2015!! Happy New Year all.
Prayer was led by Joan (substituting for Gert) - and we pledged allegiance to the flag of the United States.
Year-end reports were given by me, the treasurer, and JoAnn for travel in 2014. JoAnn also prepared flyers for the planned day trips for 2015.
Members were also told about our NEW BLOG/web site - so I hope they pass the word and let others know about it.
So far, for 2015, we have 61 members.
Refreshments were served - and we watched a slide show about Hawaii presented by a member, Wanda. It was especially nice to see the beaches of Hawaii on this FRIGID day. We usually have about 60 members each month - but with some of the snow-birds being away for the winter and the cold weather, we had about 40 today.
Next month's meeting is scheduled for February 4th. Refreshments will be provided by members with last names from G - L. Our club president, Jim, is in the process of getting an acupuncturist to come to speak to us in February.
